Highly Commended at the Contemporary Collage Magazine Awards 2023
I’m excited to share the news that my series of six collages of Honister Rainforest has been recognised as Highly Commended at the 2023 Contemporary Collage Magazine Awards.
I have been visiting and drawing the Lake District for many years and it holds a special place in my heart. The Honister Pass area is magical and forms part of one of the last surviving fragments of ancient rainforest that once covered much of Britain. This beautiful ecosystem of trees, ferns, lichens and liverworts qualifies as temperate rainforest on account of receiving a staggering 3.5 metres of rainfall per year! As a result of their rarity and diversity, the ancient woods of Borrowdale are protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. And I'm delighted to celebrate them in collage.
